Pre-Christmas Week

The week began with my Christmas Gift to myself; a trip to my favourite Day Spa for a Christmas make-over. Bliss!

Felt wonderful until I discovered that something had been nibbling the peaches left in the garage. They sat waiting to be stewed. Could be a rat?
The fruit was brought upstairs awaiting my attention. The past weeks have seen me stew approximately 50kg (I think 1kg is 2.2lbs.)
We have been going into the markets to purchase trays at a greatly reduced price.
'The King' loves his stewed fruit!

Still using my original Sunbeam Mixmaster to prepare my Christmas cakes.
It was purchased soon after my marriage to Ray in 1967 and has served me loyally for over 40 years. Parts are no longer available so I nurture it along each time I use it....

Unfortunately, I am not able to do the hand mixing with my right arm and the lymphoedema. 'The King' gives me a 'helping hand.'

Pity about the mixed fruit! He says it is a good mix otherwise!

Preparation over. Cakes ready for the oven.
It certainly gives me a deep sense of satisfaction to know that I have been baking Christmas cakes to send interstate to my children for many years. This is one of the things for which I wish to be remembered.
Prior to my mastectomy in December 2005, I duly baked the cakes and sent them off. 2006 saw me very organised and when Jeremy had his accident in November 2006 the cakes had already been made and sent. Unfortunately, 2007 saw us living in a 40ft site office at the factory; circumstances meant that my children did not get their cakes.
This year I am late. For the first time I have to pay my own freight charges. Now I realise just how many 'Fringe Benefits' there were in my job at Purecab.

Hello Yevisha

Thanks for finding me here. Welcome to 'My World.'

Hard to beat the 'old' Sunbeam mixmasters. 'The King's' late wife bought a later model and it was a plastic thing that did not hold a candle to my old one. I love it!!! My faithful servant!

Day Spa thing was great. I really just followed my old therapist who operated from a room in her home. She married again; sold her home and built a day spa.

Thankfully, I am learning to look after myself.

yes new ones are plastic and pretty useless. you've been cooking up a storm by the look of your photo. looking after ourselves is very hard to learn to do but essential. if we don't, who will? i usually only have massages in bali, rarely here. i always say i will go more often but you know how it is? i found your blog through Mandy's. :)

Hey Chez, your blog is looking great. Getting the hang of it, I see. Loved your last post.
The King looks handy to have around the house.
Shame about the peaches, hope you saved enough to stew. Did you grow them?
I wish I was one of your children. I have an original mixmaster from back in the sixties, It still does the job but I can't make cakes...hopeless!I make a mean ommelette with the mixer though.

Morning Yevisha

I have my eye on a new Kitchenaid when the time is right. Problem being that they are expensive and I do little more than make the Christmas cakes these days. So many of my recipes are easy to hand mix.

Sounds like you like to holiday in Bali! I have gotten into the habit of having regular massage over the years although I now do it more for pain relief with the lymphoedema.

We are all missing Mandy this week although delighted that she is having a fabulous holiday.

Enjoy your day...

Hi Diane

Yes! Given time I am sure I will work this out thanks to your help. I now post the pics as you suggested and do not save to draft as that is when the problem seem to occur. I will look to customise the template once Christmas has passed and things settle down for me.

Clever you! Finding that you can make a mean omelette using the mixmaster. I am not particularly good at omelettes although I have always loved to bake.

Are you through with your Christmas preparations? The pain in my arm has pulled me up for the time being.

Have a happy day...

Diane how sweet of you to comment on my writing style. Guess I am looking to create something that is readable.
I remember when my Mum would write letters to me. We were both enjoyed letted writing.
At differnt times in Mum's life I would put the letter aside knowing that her depressed state of mind would not be good reading.
I am making a choice. I would like my writing to be positive and uplifting with undertones of being inspiring.
Let me know if I am not being true to myself at any time. I would value and appreciate your feedback.
Glad to hear you are also the hairdresser in the family. I have been cutting 'The King's' little bit of hair for years.
Take care good friend.
Lift your face to the sun (you will have to imagine it at this time) and think of your beautiful Matthew.
Live life, laugh and love always

Hey Mandy it is great to see you back. I can only imagine how busy you will be now filling the cupboards and refrigerator. Good luck with all those people in the shops.

I was there bright and early this morning and have spent time this afternoon preparing Apricot Ambrosia Balls for Christmas Day.

Have several new books to read. Will make that a priority from Boxing Day..
