11.1.11 Celebrating Life

The day which we fear as our last is but the birthday of eternity - Seneca, Roman philosopher

Celebrating my birthday on 11.1.11 was quite special for me. Not for any reason other than there have been times I doubted I would make it.

This beautiful Birthday Post Card was organised as a surprise. My special friend Kaz, a resident of Maine, posted this on my Facebook wall. I was overcome with emotion! It is definitely something to be printed onto canvas for framing. Thanks Kaz for this 'Memory Moment' which I will treasure all of my days

As my regular readers are aware there is a 'family history' of birth/death in the same month. Always the question to be asked 'Is this the year?'

Interestingly enough, I saw my doctor on my birthday. The discussion centered around the outcome of last week's appointment with my 'new' oncologist. Dr Sales said he felt there had to be 'just cause' for extensive testing given my situation. It was not simply about furthering the education of the medical profession. As I was unsure of what he meant, I asked him to 'please explain?' He made it clear that, given the tests were likely to show the reason for growth and increasing pain on and around the clavicle, as well as hard nodules below, there had to be treatment options available. The answer is a definite 'Yes' although my thoughts, at this time, are that 'quality' of life will always take  precedence over 'duration' of life.

As with most things, that is easy to say now. Time will tell! After all,Damian and Tyneal will present me with the gift of grandchild number 10 in June.

Well, Chez, you do have something to look forward to and clearly you will hang on until June! How about the "terrible twos"? They would like your help! There is always something to live for! Quality of life is pretty critical too, essential really. I am not sure where I could draw that line, maybe just from today, one more year? and then tomorrow I would want the same!

Chez, the postcard is incredibly beautiful! What a wonderful gift. I agree, it needs to be transferred to a larger medium and framed.

I am so glad that you are getting some good medical advice. It sounds as though you are in good hands, and I am grateful for that. There is no doubt in my mind that you will be holding and loving grandchild #10 for quite some time!

Be well, lovely lady.

A beautiful "postcard from heaven" for a beautiful lady, from another beautiful lady! So glad you had a good birthday, my friend. Sounds as though your new doctor is more human/humane than some of the others you've had. Hopefully things will improve for you now. And talk about something to look forward to! Number 10! Wow! Congratulations to everyone. Love and hugs coming your way from your friend in Texas!

Happy Birthday Chez!

I hope you were indulged with love from people who love you as I'm sure there are many.

We are all on borrowed time...it's what we do with it that counts. None of us know what tomorrow will bring and I see you have been given the gift of appreciation through your journey.

Thinking of you with love,
Diana x

Chez, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Sorry I am late and somehow overlooked this post! Some friend I am! ha. That was indeed a wonderful gift from Kaz, something to truly treasure always. Keep looking forward, it won't be long til June is here and then you need to watch over the new little one for a long time. Again, happy birthday my friend. (also, I'm thinking of joining Facebook, do you think it's a good idea?)
